The older Brighouse terraces near the river and canal take damp at ground level. The plaster on the bottom of the wall is often blown or salt-stained. Once the cause has been dealt with, we cut it out and re-plaster with a system that suits a wall that is still drying.
The inter-war semis up towards Lightcliffe and Hipperholme are a different job. Cavity walls, so less damp, but artex ceilings, cracked coving and decades of patch repairs. A full skim usually works out better than another round of filling.
